Hummingbird with nest

Hummingbird with nest
6x8" oil/board
min. bid.$50.

Hummingbirds come back from Mexico
for the summer. They like to build their
nests in the fruit orchards, especially the
cherry and apple trees. Our neighbors keep
feeders out for them and they will have 30
hummers at a time.

Pottery Place
8x16" oil/board

I have painted this building many times. It is the old
La Luz Pottery. In the 1920's pottery was made here,
mainly red clay pots and roof tile for houses. It was
quite the cottage industry for awhile.

Path in the foxgloves

It is hard to choose between foxgloves and hollyhocks to paint.
I like the tall stalks and big leaves and I think hollyhocks are more prolific
here in the Southwest.

Wild Roses

Wild Roses
6x6" o/board
Sold

Wild roses grow here in groves and are covered in blooms
in the spring, They are also extremely thorny.
I used the palette of ultramarine blue and alizarin crimson that Julie Ford Oliver
provided on her blog. I like the concept of the colors
being related to each other. It gives the painting unity.
